Luxury Glamping Experience in Staffordshire: Stay in a Yurt

Updated: Jan 28

Staffordshire is a county often over looked when you think about heading away on a UK getaway, but let me tell you.... overlook it no further!

I have found you THE place to stay for your next break away and it is called Peake's Retreats

Have you ever stayed in a Yurt before? If not then you will want to after reading this.

A Luxury glamping experience in the heart of Staffordshire.

There are three yurts set in a spacious field, all three are fully insulated and have their own wood burning stove meaning they are suitable all year round and I can vouch for how toasty they are during the winter months as I stayed during a cold snap in mid November 2023.

Price - £220 per night, each yurt sleeps 6 people. There is a minimum 2 night stay over weekends but 1 night stays are available midweek (and during quieter months if available). You can also hire out the whole place for parties or hen dos.

Located - In the beautiful Staffordshire countryside, just outside Burton upon Trent (11minute drive) and a 6 minute drive from the quaint historical village of Tutbury.

A 30 minute drive to the lovely town of Ashbourne, meaning Ilam and Dovedale are also only a 35 - 40minute drive away, one of The Peak District gems and a great place for walks.

Each yurt has their own private hot tub, two are wood fired and the other is a conventional tub with jets. There is no electricity in the yurts, but there are some press touch lights and tealights, but during winter months I would advise you bring your own camping lanterns to add a bit of extra light. There are charging points for phones and small devices in the cooking cabin but again I do recommend taking battery packs.

On the site there is a separate cooking cabin with everything you need to cook up a storm and the option to add a breakfast hamper with local produce, on both mornings we had a delicious hearty breakfast.

If you fancy a BBQ then there is a Finnish BBQ hut on site to use all year round and an outside BBQ area, you can bring your own charcoal for the BBQ's or purchase some on arrival.

You can get everything you need for a BBQ and more from the local Farm shop Denstone Hall Farm Shop & Cafe which is a 25-27 minute drive from Peake's Retreats

or there are local supermarkets nearby in Tutbury, a Co op 9 minutes away and larger supermarkets in Burton Upon Trent.

Each Yurt has its own lockable bathroom that is a short walk from the yurts but near the car parking area. Each bathroom is beautiful, cosy and warm, a fantastic shower and even Neal's Yard Remedies Products to use and a hair dryer if needed.

If staying in a yurt isn't your thing then on the same site there is a lovely self catering cottage that sleeps two people, with your very own hot tub in a private small garden called The Loft

Those staying in the Loft have access to the Finnish BBQ cut and garden area, which includes a children's play area.

If you still fancy a bit more on your doorstep then there is the Castle View Cottage in the centre of Tutbury, the cottage has breath taking views of the ruins of Tutbury Castle from the gardens and in walking distance to independent shops, cafes and restaurants. This cottage also sleeps two people.

The Loft and the Castle View Cottage would make the most perfect romantic getaway for two.

Each accommodation property Peake's Retreats offers are also dog friendly! and with walks from the doorstep it is a great place to explore with your pooch. For information on the local footpaths from the site please head to the Staffordshire County Council website Here

I also love using the app Komoot to find walks and places of interest in the local area.

I think you will all agree with me on how beautiful this place is to stay, so please make sure you check out Peake's Retreats website for more information or head to my Instagram page @freya_advendtureawaits
