Each room is decorated beautifully and each one has their own style, 6 of the bedrooms have king size beds (I can vouch to say how comfy they are) and one of the bedrooms has two twin beds. We stayed in a room on the top floor, there are three floors to the building accessed via stairs, our room was spacious, cosy and comfortable and had everything we needed for a girls weekend away.
Each room has a Kitchenette, with a fridge/freezer, sink, coffee machine, kettle and microwave along with mugs, plates, glasses and cutlery. On our first night we used the kitchenette and bought ready meals from the local co-op, a 2 minute walk from the hotel in the town to save on some pennies and had a cosy night in watching TV. We found the kitchenette really handy for breakfasts as well before our days out exploring the local area.
Every room has their own ensuite bathroom with a walk in shower, which warmed us up nicely after a dip in the sea on Bamburgh Beach (only a 25-30 minute drive away from the hotel).
There is free parking on the street just around the corner from the hotel.
Wooler, is a walkers dream location and the gateway to The Cheviots, it is a true hidden gem in Northumberland. This small stone built market town with buildings dating back to the 1700-1800 hundreds, has everything you need to enjoy a break away. With a charming high street, with independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants it is the perfect base to explore the rest of what this beautiful county has to offer. On the Saturday night of our stay we headed to the local Italian restaurant called Milan, a very short walk away from Arlington House Hotel and down a super cute alleyway, the food was delicious and the staff were really friendly, a 10/10 from me, if it is busy you can also order a take away to take back to the hotel.
If it is a rainy day and you fancy learning more about the Golden Age of Northumbria, then make sure you head to Ad Grefin the Anglo Saxon Museum and Distillery, this only opened in 2023, and it is a place I shall be heading to on my next visit to the area. Step back in time to the Royal Court of the 7th Century and experience the unique heritage, ancient hospitality, and contemporary crafts, arts and produce of Northumberland. As a history lover this all sounds fantastic to me, and would make a great day out for all.
